Winifred "Peg" Patterson Obituary

Winifred “Peg” Schofield Patterson

May 30, 1940 – March 18, 2021.

Peg Schofield Patterson’s love of life and family didn’t come to an end when she went to heaven on March 18, 2021.

At the age of 80, Peg passed away surrounded by her loved ones, with time enough to tell her daughters and her husband of nearly 63 years, Gerald “Bud” Patterson that she loved them before she left. Her family will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Born May 31, 1940, to Kenneth and Cora Schofield in Opportunity, Montana, Peg was the oldest of three daughters. At the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Gerald "Bud" Patterson, and they embarked on a 20-year adventure of moving around the United States with the U.S. Navy.

When Bud was out to sea, Peg stayed busy and active with their children, Ray, Vicky and Barbra. She was involved with their Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports, PTA and bake sales, and began a love for crafting activities that would last her entire life.

After Bud’s retirement from the Navy, the family moved back home to Mill Creek, where she enjoyed numerous activities, including but not limited to; T.O.P.S, Red Hats, bowling, cake decorating and ceramics. She made wedding cakes for family and friends and taught cake decorating classes in Anaconda. Whenever possible, Peg and Bud enjoyed traveling all over the western United States, visiting family in their various journeys. As life slowed down her ability to travel, she continued to enjoy family visits, especially when the grandchildren and great grandchildren were able to visit.

Peg was preceded in death by both parents, her sister Jay Adam and brother-in-law Walley Adam, her granddaughter Nicolette Patterson, her son Raymond Patterson and son-in-law William Hicks. She is survived by her husband Bud of Opportunity, her sister and brother-in-law Janet and Evan Bowen of Opportunity, her daughter Vicky Hicks of Helena, her daughter and son-in-law Barbra and Roy Christensen of Columbia Falls and daughter-in-law Joanne Patterson of Cody, Wyoming.  Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Zachary Christensen, Ray Hawkins and his wife Ashley, Sara Koslosky and her husband Kyle, Leigh Paulsen and her husband Aaron, Kenneth Patterson and Matthew Patterson. Her three great grandchildren are Madison Hawkins, Zach Hawkins and Easton Paulsen, and she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
