Tony Laslovich Obituary

Born on July 11, 1957, the one and only Tony Laslovich lived a life that gave hope and strength to others and inspired everyone who was fortunate enough to meet him. With his wife and soulmate, Kathy, by his side, Tony joined Heaven's angels on Sunday evening, July 20, 2014.

Tony has always been a fighter and the fight he courageously fought against bladder cancer this past year was indicative of how strong of a man he truly was. His time on Earth, while too short, was lived the way it should be - put family first, work incredibly hard, and be kind to others.

One cannot discuss TL's extraordinary life without talking about his family. In his final days, he found great comfort in knowing that he was going to see and hug his caring Mom, Ruth, again, as well as his oldest brother, Mike, who he was looking forward to giving a hard time. But it's the family he built that defined him the most.

He married the beautiful and graceful, Kathy Lemelin, on November 24, 1979, and together they raised five children who worship the ground TKL walk on. Tony was as proud of his kids, Jesse (Jill), Jeff (Cash), Beth (Ryan), Anthony (Jonna), and Lisa (TBD), as they are of him. They are his legacy, as well as his five grandchildren, Cooper, Jhett, Boone, Hudson, and Summer, all of whom looked up to their Papa.

Tony is also survived by his father and hero, Ray, and his best friends and brothers, Mark (Peg) and Nick (Sheila), and his sister, Joan (John) Ungaretti, as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loralee and Paul Beatty, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony wanted it specifically mentioned that he was honored to work alongside his Dad, brothers, and kids on an almost daily basis.

Tony started his own business, Laslovich Construction, in the early 1990s and grew it into a successful business. There wasn't a harder worker or better equipment operator than TL. He worked all of the time, although finding time on Sundays to watch the Green Bay Packers was important to him and his family.

He thoroughly enjoyed sports, first as a hustling player, then as a motivational tennis and basketball coach, and finally as a respected hall of fame referee for football, basketball, and volleyball. Over the years as a sports official, he met many people, most of whom became like family to him.

Born and raised in Anaconda, Montana, Tony understood the value of loyalty. He served the people and community he loved as county commissioner in the 1980s and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

It is always quality over quantity and while we didn't get the number of years we all wanted with Tony, he led the kind of life we all salute and celebrate. His family is absolutely heartbroken over his loss, but incredibly thankful for the memories he gave us. His "Whatever It Takes" attitude was more than for fighting cancer, it was his way of life.

In lieu of flowers and consistent with TL's commitment to Anaconda, donations may be made in Tony's honor to the Community Hospital & Nursing Home of Anaconda Foundation, 401 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711.
