Terrance Caulfield Obituary

Terrance "Torch" Caulfield, 89, died Saturday, November 22, in Saint Patrick Hospital.
He was born November 26, 1924 in Anaconda, to Owen and Anne (Corrigan) Caulfield.
Terry attended St. Paul's grade school and graduated from Anaconda High in 1942. He attended Carroll College, was a member of the football team, and president of his Senior Class. Terry received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy in 1948.
In 1954, he married Marion Petrovich at St. Peter's Church in Anaconda. Together they had seven children while devotedly embracing faith and family traditions. Terry's strong commitment to his family was evident with his nearly fifty-four year marriage and his devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Terry obtained his Master's Degree in the Classics (Latin and Greek) from the University of Washington in 1962 and spent forty-three years as an educator teaching Latin in Anaconda for a number of years, high school English, and was a junior high school librarian, retiring in 1991.
Living his life with passion and purpose, he was a charter member of Deer Lodge County School Employees Federal Credit Union, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, former Habitat for Humanity Treasurer, and a pro-life supporter embracing the dignity of life from conception until natural death.
As a lifelong learner, Terry was a lover of words, and a Logophile (...In Principio erat Verbum...). He took great delight in music, poetry, books, sports, and loved to travel. He could often be seen "cruising the drag" around Anaconda as well as galavantin' around many of the area's dirt roads and scenic wonders. Terry had a great sense of humor and entertained many with his quick wit. He took great joy in life's simple pleasures.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, infant son John, sisters Claire (George) Banasky and Mary (Frank) Bowron, and wife Marion.
He is survived by his daughters Colleen (Joe) Ferguson, Teresa (Patrick) Hupfauf, Joan, Tricia (Rick) Schumann; sons Bernard and Patrick; granddaughters Tiana, Mackenzie, and Madison, his sister Ann, sister-in-law, Kay Petrovich and brother-in-law, Henry (Jane) Petrovich.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to American Life League, P.O. Box 1350, Stafford, VA, 22555.
A visitation and wake will be held at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25, from 5:00 - 6:15 p.m., followed by a Rosary.
