Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Sharon “Toni” Fife Miller passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 at the age of 85, in Deer Lodge Montana. She was surrounded by her husband and children.
Sharon was born to Agnes Todd Fife and Paul Emery Fife on May 6, 1937 in Kanesville, Utah. She moved with her family from their farm in Utah to a ranch in Hamilton, Montana. After high school, she attended Weber State college and then graduated from BYU at a time when only 35% of women finished college.
She met her husband, Thomas F. Miller at BYU and they were married on March 22, 1958. They raised their 7 children -- Sherry Shepherd (John), Tom (Kim), Linda, Victoria, David (Heather), Jana, Joseph (Lily)—in Oakley, Idaho. They have 37 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Sharon was known for her beautiful singing voice all her life. She participated in many musicals including playing “Dolly” in “Hello Dolly” and “Golde” in “Fiddler on the Roof”. She formed and directed a children’s choir, creating programs and costumes for performances. She organized a youth theater group and directed many plays involving many young children. She again sewed costumes and helped with sets and music. She was one of the original founders of Oakley Valley Arts Council (OVAC) in Oakley, Idaho.
Sharon was a beloved teacher in the Sacramento City Unified School District after she moved to California. She taught 3rd & 4th grade. After retiring she returned with her husband to Montana, settling in Deer Lodge.
Sharon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, two brothers, daughter Linda and 3 grandchildren.
Sharon has left a legacy of love that will live on through her posterity. Even now, as we all gather to celebrate her beautiful life, we are recommitting to live the attributes she has: love, acceptance, forgiveness, loyalty, selflessness, imagination, fierceness, innovation and more. We love you.
