Ruth Ida Bennett

Ruth Ida Anderson Bennett, a life-long resident of Anaconda, passed away peacefully May 6, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Hospital, surrounded by family. Ruth was born October 24, 1937, the daughter of Leonard and Jean Anderson. She grew up on the Anderson Ranch, where she enjoyed horseback riding with family and friends, and later won many awards for her skilled horsemanship. Ruth was a graduate of Anaconda High School and later served many years working as an interpreter for the deaf in the Anaconda School District. 

Ruth was a devout member of the Anaconda Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and zealously held many callings as she served the Lord. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Lyon(s) Family Association of America, Anaconda Historical Society and Society of Mayflower Decedents.  Ruth had a deep passion for genealogy and volunteered countless hours at the church genealogy center.

Ruth’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She was very proud of their lives and accomplishments.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Gayle Martin, son Mark Bennett and former husband Pat Bennett. 

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Bennett Weaver, son-in-law Shawn Weaver, daughter-in-law Terri Bennett; grandchildren Whitney Weaver, Corbin Weaver (Kaley), Heidi Martin, Melissa Jensen (Chase); and five great-grandchildren, Hudson and Bridger Weaver, Kendra, Rhet, and Theodore “Teddy” Jensen.

A funeral service for Ruth will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1300 W. Park St, Anaconda, MT, beginning at 11 a.m.   A one-hour visitation will take place prior to the funeral service at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral service at New Hill Cemetery, Stumptown Rd., Anaconda, MT. A funeral luncheon will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the conclusion of the graveside service.
