Ronald O'Brien Obituary

Ron passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Community Hospital of Anaconda.

Ron was born to Gerald and Thelma (Weir) O’Brien on June 27, 1955.

In his youth, Ron (Obe) was known to have many memorable friends, most of whom had appropriate nicknames. If you didn’t have a nickname, he would give you one.

Ron graduated from Anaconda Senior High School in 1973. After graduation, he went to work at Montana State Hospital as a Psyche Tech. He married Pauline Kiehn in 1975 and the had one son (Gregory) together. They divorced in 1978. Ron then worked at the Arbiter Plant in Anaconda for a short time before relocating to Albuquerque, NM. Them, like so many do, he returned to Anaconda in 1980 and resumed his position at MSH, where he retired in 2012. Ron had a sincere interest in mental health and had a compassionate and understanding heart.

During this time, Ron had a very special relationship with Raelene Gress and her children. Although this relationship also dissolved, they remained good friends throughout the years.

Ron was a man of many interests. He loved to read, he loved history. He enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and growing things. Ron always made sure he lived by a basketball court where he spent many joyous hours.

Ron will no doubt be remembered as a kind and generous person. He always gave more than he had to anyone that asked.

He is survived by his biological son Greg (Michell) Hardy, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild all of Surprise, AZ. Also, his siter Cheri (Rick) Golie of Floweree, MT, his brother Dave (Deborah) O’Brien of Edinal, MN, his sister Pam O’Brien (Mike Willy) of Anaconda and his sister Geralyn O’Brien (Dan Ocana) of Anaconda.
