Renee Holbrook Obituary

Renee (Zimmerman) Holbrook, a loving mother, wife and friend, passed away on Thursday morning. She was 60 years old. Born to Benjamin and Lorraine Zimmerman on Aug. 28, 1954 in McLaughlin, S.D., Renee was one of four siblings raised in Southwest Montana.

She was schooled in Anaconda and received her GED in 1979. Renee was a hard worker and after working several other jobs, she went to work at Warm Springs where she stayed for 19 years.

For a change of pace, Renee went to work at Sun Mountain Lumber in Deer Lodge for approximately three years then as a train conductor for BNSF Railway based in Havre starting in 2004. Outgoing and kind, Renee met many people from all across Montana on the rails, making lifelong friends from Whitefish to Havre, and everywhere else in between.

Renee married Bruce Holbrook in 1970, divorced in 1980. Then Renee met her true love and best friend, Dave Landes, in 1991 and they were married in 2004. Although they both called Anaconda home, both worked and lived on the road, proving the strength of their bond.

Renee loved to just get in the car and go. She loved maps and wanted to discover new roads and geography. She was an outdoors enthusiast, and always talked with her daughter JoLynne about planning new and exciting excursions whenever their lives would allow such an adventure. She also loved working in her garden and loved sharing her flowers with other people. "I'm just a farm girl without the farm," was her favorite quote and described her life eloquently.

Renee is survived by her husband Dave, her daughter Jolynne (Mike) Huotte and grandson Michael Huotte, all of Anaconda; siblings Marcy (Jack) Day of Anaconda, brothers Glen (Nelda) Zimmerman of Tacoma, Wash., and Lon (Dorothy) Zimmerman of Anaconda; nieces Lori (Shannon) Hoskins of Butte, Tana Klanecky and Melissa (Blake) Hempstead of Anaconda and Jackie (Chris) Hicks of Nashville, Tenn., not to mention numerous family members and friends who touched her life so vividly.

In lieu of flowers, donors are asked to give to the charity of their choice in Renee's honor. Memorial services are Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church starting at 10:30 a.m. A vigil for family and friends will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
