Mary Mullen Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Mullen died peacefully on November 2, 2023, of natural causes in her hometown of Anaconda, MT. Mary was 71 years old.

Mary was born in Anaconda, MT on January 20,1952. She was the second child, and first daughter of a large family of ten children born to Charles and Margaret Mullen.

Mary was a 1970 graduate of Anaconda Central High School. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology in 1974 from Carroll College in Helena, MT. Mary’s son Josh was born a few years later.

Mary taught Adult Education Courses at the Prevention of Child Abuse (PCA) Family Resource Center for many years. It was a demanding but rewarding job.

Mary enjoyed going to Josh’s many sporting events. Mary loved playing Adult Rec league sports in Anaconda and made a lot of friends through playing. She also coached female youth league sports and enjoyed it.

Mary taught religious education at the Catholic Church for years. She had Josh in class one of those years and kicked him out a couple of times to nobody’s surprise. She became friends with Kay Heaney and Sister Eileen through the church. She really appreciated these friendships.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Anaconda. She loved the beauty of Anaconda and Montana.

In her later years, Mary enjoyed taking rides and spending time in Washoe Park. She enjoyed being a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

The last five years of Mary’s life were special. Josh had grown up some. She was able to see how much Josh loved and appreciated her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret Mullen, and sister Martie Mullen Tafoya.

Mary is survived by her son, Josh, siblings; Rich, Monica, John, Julia, Steve, Tom, Ann and Tony and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service and reception with Father McCallum, presiding in the Spring. Service will be announced when set.

Josh is grateful for all the help he has received from his family during this time.
