Martha "Martie" Jane Tafoya

Martha "Martie" Mullen Tafoya, aged 70, died unexpectedly on October 28, 2023. Her passing left a void no one could fill. Her mom and dad were Charles Mullen and Margaret Gamblin Mullen who moved to Anaconda, MT in 1949 and proceeded to raise their family in this most welcoming town.

Martie graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1971 and graduated with her LPN license in 1973. She worked at Warm Springs State Hospital until she moved to Texas with Virgil Aldous and their first-born Nathan. Martie moved back to Anaconda with Nathan and Nick and soon moved to Florida. Meeting Ken Tafoya and his baby boy Jerry in Florida and starting an adventure in the Keys for the next 40+ years to include the births of Sabrena, Angelina, and Thomas.

Martie’s brothers and sisters all thought they were the favorites of Martie’s. Rich, Mary, Monica, John, Julia, Steve, Tom, Ann, and Tony. And they were sometimes at the same time!

But we all know who her favorites are, her grandchildren. Savanna, Jacob & Jarrett, Maddison & Logan, Bear and Gabby, all part of her life and adventures.

Martie “retired” and moved back to her hometown of Anaconda, residing in her childhood home in 2021. Martie had a beautiful circle of friends that she shared many adventures with. Martie never met a stranger and made ripples everywhere she went.

Martie had a passion for traveling, reading, her dogs, candy crush, and community activities.

Martie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Aldous, and her baby daughter Angelina.

A "Party for Martie", organized privately by the family, will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 4 p.m. at the Revolver, 221 E. Park Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711.

Martie's love of her pets was legendary and memorials to your favorite Humane Society and/or to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital would be appreciated.
