Joanna Himber Obituary

Joanna was born July 22nd, 1967, in Portland and grew up in Eugene and Bend, OR. She was only 55 years old at the time of her passing.

In 1980, Joanna moved to Missoula, MT, along with her parents, Derald and Judith Himber, and her siblings where she attended Cascade Junior High and Sentinel High.

After high school Joanna Married Brian Derby, who was in the Armed Services, and they lived in Texas. Joanna had no children, and they later divorced.

After several years of working in Texas and then Florida, Joanna returned to her family in Missoula. In June of 1998, she married Jeremy Cramer. They later divorced in 2006. Joanna did not have any children of her own but was a trained and certified daycare teacher and caregiver in preschool and daycare settings.

While Joanna was in her thirties and attending the U of M, she was unfortunately diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy. Joanna bravely continued school and obtained her bachelor's degree. She continued working in Daycare until she could no longer physically do it. Her spirit was very determined, and she did not let her physical disability stop her. Joanna still loved traveling and went on adventures with her friends and family until recently.

Joanna was diagnosed with cancer in early March and left us on April 30th.

We will miss her very much. Joanna is survived by her siblings Jody and Joseph Himber, who reside in Oregon, and her brother Jeff Himber who lives in Montana.

A celebration of life may be planned this summer.
