Helen Turtle Obituary

Helen Turtle, 98, died February 18, 2019 at the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda.

Helen was born on November 14, 1920 in Anaconda. She was the oldest child of John and Helen (Laslovich) Palakovich. She attended local schools and graduated from Anaconda High School.

She worked at Owsley's Drug and the Five and Dime Store. During WWII, Helen worked as a machinist helper in the Portland, OR shipyards and for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. Years later, she worked at the Copper Club in Anaconda.

On September 20, 1941, Helen married Joseph (Mudge) Turtle. They had seven children.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, her son Pat in 1953, her parents, her in-laws Joseph and Diana (Beausoleil) Turtle, sisters Mary Palakovich and Angela Miller, brother Joe Palakovich, brothers-in-law Leo Miller, Richard Bossard and Francis (Perc) Turtle, sisters-in-law Helen Palakovich and Janice Palakovich and all of her aunts and uncles.

Helen is survived by her children, Paul (Sharon) Turtle, Lilburn, GA, Mary Ann (Mike) Rapp, Spokane, WA, Helen (George) Kovacich, Anaconda, Peg (Mark) Laslovich, Anaconda, Jack Turtle, Anaconda and Joe (Vicki) Turtle, Dickinson, ND, her brothers Frank (Ann) Palakovich, Anaconda and John Palakovich, Anaconda, sisters Margaret Bossard, Missoula and Dorothy (Tom) Lankeit, Spokane, WA. Her grandchildren Paul Turtle, Mary Katherine (Bill) Adams, Angela (Steve) Cleveland, Michael (Carissa) Rapp, Christine Chandler, Theresa Kovacich, Jaclyn (Tel) Reynolds, Luke (Selena) Laslovich, Josh (Kacie) Laslovich, Nate (Katie) Laslovich, Carolyn Wiseman, Chad Turtle, Jacob Turtle and Tanya (Wayne) Mitchell. Great Grandchildren, Michaela Adams, Ethan Adams, Cole Cleveland, Hayden and McKenna Birch, Cadence, Averie and Palmer Reynolds, Riley and Natalie Laslovich, Makenna and Matt Carlson, Tucker and Cole Laslovich, Ty, Tanner, James and Matthew Laslovich, Callie, Markie and Henry Wiseman and Marcela and Raymond Mitchell.

Mom was a lifelong member of the Anaconda Catholic Community.

We wish to thank Jenny Parks, Norma Jones and Judy Jones for their years of professional and loving care given to our mom. Thank you to all of mom's caring neighbors who were always there for her. We also want to thank the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda Staff who cared for our mom.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Peter's Restoration Fund, 217 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
