Guy Monaco Obituary

Guy T. Monaco, 84 years of age, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Dotsie by his side on November 22, 2022. Guy T. was born in Anaconda Montana on November 19, 1938. He attend school in Anaconda and completed his education in 1958. He was a proud Copperhead. Guy T. attend the 10th graduating class of the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. He was a twenty-one-year member of the Montana National Guard and was affectionally known as the “General of the Mess”. Guy T. was a respected and admired member of the Anaconda-Deer Lodge Law Enforcement community, working through the ranks from patrol to Assistant Chief of Police when he retired in May of 1997. He also served Granite County and the Federal Forest Service patrolling Georgetown Lake or as his grandkids called it “Papa Guy’s Lake”. Not long after his retirement he was back serving the community as an Assistant Coroner for the County. Guy T. was actively involved in the Anaconda community. He was involved in numerous organizations over the years including the Anaconda Catholic Community, Knights of Columbus, Georgetown Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Search and Rescue, Copperhead Booster, Kiwanis, American Legion, and a founding member of the Grumpy Old Men’s Club. He would help with any worthy cause in the community he loved.

His most satisfying accomplishment was that of being husband, father, and papa. Guy T. married Dotsie Tracy, January 9th, 1958. It was a strong, supportive, and caring union that endured the test of time. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he made sure each one of his kids felt a special connection to him. Each one of us was his favorite. He was the biggest supporter, confident, and cheerleader. A loving, caring, and compassionate father and papa to all.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Geatano and Lucia (Perna) Monaco; and siblings and spouses Ann (Ed) Martello, Mario “Red” (JoAnn) Monaco, and Ellen (Jack) Robbins; In-laws Jack and Fran Tracy; sister-in-law, Marie Truex, and brother-in-law Ray “Topper” Tracy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dotsie; his daughter Barbara Monaco; his son John “Bonz” and Teresa Monaco, their children, Meagan, Marcus, Michael, and Mitchell and grandchildren Carson, Bentley, and Quinn; his daughter Jean and Dean Harding, their children Rodney and Shelly, Scott and Brianna, and Thomas and Kira and grandchildren Erica and Brooks, his daughter Laurie and Ricky Robbins, their children Alexis and Keith Marthaller and granddaughter Link; his daughter Dotsie Monaco and Rob Kellegher, their children Vincent, Michael Guy and Lexie Murphy, and grandchildren Aubrey, Emma, and CeCe; his daughter Cindra and Ron Hatcher and their children Gillian and Joseph; his daughter Joan Monaco and Bud Strizich and daughter Terri Arneson; sister-in-law Cathy Tracy; sister and brother-in-law Ginger and Terry McNally; numerus very special nieces and nephews; and countless friends, far too many to list.

Guy T. would yell if you knocked or rang the doorbell. Everyone who walked through the door was family and nobody left hungry - that was Papa Guy. We acknowledge this tribute falls short of being able to adequately provide a tribute appropriate for the man who found the best in all that he saw.  He had a heart full of love, devotion, and kindness to his family and community.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Guy are suggested to Anaconda American Legion Post #21, PO Box 1118, Anaconda, MT 59711.
