Gabriele "Elly" DeHart Obituary

Elly DeHart passed away on December 18, 2021 at age 92.

At my request, there will be no obituary or services. At a later date my ashes will be spread in the beautiful mountains.

In my life, I was fortunate to have loving, kind and caring family and friends which I cherished and was ever so grateful for.

God bless you. Elly

Gabriele “Elly” (Janak) DeHart, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 18, 2021, in Anaconda, Montana.

She was born in Steyr, Austria April 5th, 1929, where she grew up.  Near the end of World War II, she immigrated to the United States.  After living in Minnesota for a few years she moved with Bernard DeHart, her husband, to Anaconda, Montana to start their life together.

Bernard worked as a craftsman and machinist at the Smelter.  Elly held various jobs over her career:  dishwasher, waitress, a baker’s assistant at Buttrey’s bakery, bank teller and eventually retired as a Bank Officer from First Security Bank in Anaconda.  After she retired from the bank, she continued to hold various jobs throughout her retirement.

Early in retirement Elly and Bernard traveled from the North Pole, Alaska all the way to the southernmost point of the United States, spending some of the cold weather months in Arizona.   They loved spending time in the great outdoors camping, four wheeling, snowmobiling, and rock hounding.

Elly was also known for her love of animals, whether the animals were her beloved household pets or wildlife.  She always had household pets, many who were adopted off the street.   The birds always had food in her yard, and she was known to feed the ducks in Washoe Park all winter.  She also spent time volunteering at Pintler Pets over the years.

In addition to her love of the outdoors and animals, Elly loved quilting.  Her house was adorned with the beautiful quilts she made over the years.  She would make quilts as gifts for family and friends, as well as donate them for local fundraisers.

Elly knew how to love big, and she wasn’t shy about showing those that she loved how much she loved them.   She was always willing to pass out hugs, smiles, and nobody left Elly’s house without a full belly and a plate to take home.  Her grandkids would argue Elly made best damn grilled cheese sandwich ever.

Although Elly will be missed greatly, her imprint on those that she touched will be remembered forever.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Pintler Pets, P.O. Box 1204, Anaconda, Montana 59711 or Anaconda Pintler Hospice, 118 E. 7th St., Ste. 1A, Anaconda, MT 59711 in her honor.
