Donald “Maury” Courtney, age 81, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March
24, 2020 after a short illness. He was born on March 12, 1939, in Philipsburg, Montana, to the late
Charles and Elizabeth (Steber) Courtney.
Maury was a 1958 graduate of Granite County High School. He was a veteran of the
United States Air Force and a volunteer firefighter for the Philipsburg Fire Department. Maury was a
social person who enjoyed spending time with his friends at the White Front.
Survivors include his former spouses, Annette Killebrew, and Frankie Housel; five children, Dennis
(Wendy) Courtney, Dawnette (Paul Fultz) Hall, Michelle (Brent) Brooks, Scooter (Kelly) Courtney and Jim
(Bobi Lou) Courtney; ten grandchildren, Courtney (Zachary) Graves, MaCayla Courtney, Caden Brooks,
Makenzy Courtney, Annalyse Hall, Alli Claire Courtney, MaryRuth Courtney, Adrianna Courtney, Ayden
Courtney, and LucyKate Courtney; one great-grandchild, Emmarie Beasley; and many nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Maury was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Courtney and Charlie
Courtney; his sisters, Ellen Walkup, Betty Warehouse and Cleo Bradshaw; and his son-in-law, Donald
Hall. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Seven Hills Health and Rehabilitation and Big
Bend Hospice of Tallahassee for the compassionate care given to Maury during his final days.
Friends are invited to a memorial toast for Maury at the White Front on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 12:30
PM followed by a graveside service at the cemetery in Philipsburg.
