Obituary

“Ron” was born in Glasgow, MT in 1936, he died at St. James Hospital in Butte, MT on March 4, 2022. Ron was the second child of Fred and Myrtle McOmber. He attended schools in Garrison, Avon and Powell High School. He held many jobs working in timber, sawmills, mine in MT, CA, NV and ID. Most of his years were in Philipsburg, MT where he and his wife of 65 years, Muriel, raised their six children. Ron was an avid hunter, fisherman and hiker. He enjoyed snowmobiling and playing baseball, tennis and golf. In high school, he played football, basketball and track.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred and Philip, sister’s-in-law Janice Keil and Anna McOmber and brother-in-law Charles Harris. He is survived by his wife Muriel, his sister Dona Harris, brother John McOmber and wife Sandra, sister-in-law Kay McOmber, his children and spouses, Stan (Cindy), Rona (Frank), Sandy (Bob), Chester (Sharon), Scott (Leigh) and Catherine (Charles). Grandchildren, Forrest, Katie, Emily, Josh, Brittany, Fawn, Ronnie, Brandon, Sarah, Bobby, Joey, Benjamin, Juniper, Clara, David, Derrick and Ashleigh. 26 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron was a loved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed but remembered by his family and friends. At his request, there will be no services. He will be cremated and laid to rest at a place of his choosing. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
