Carol Ann's final chapter closed on August 13. She lived with faith, love for her family, generosity, compassion for others, and enjoyed finding joy in the boundless energy of the young.
Carol's journey began December 15, 1937, to Marcelle (Brosseau) and Raymond "Tiger" Cote in Butte. The eldest of three, Carol attended St. Joseph Grade School and Girls Central High. She enjoyed math, music, and accounting.
At a dance in 1953, Carol met Matt Strizich. Two years later on August 20th they were married to start their 57-year journey together. The two settled in Anaconda and raised 6 kids. In the later years the two enjoyed visiting their kids and spending time with their grandkids and making memories at the family camp at Georgetown. Carol especially enjoyed researching the family's history and traveling to places like Quebec and Jerusalem which were tied to her family's history and faith.
Carol studied music through the Sherwood Music School of Chicago, Illinois to earn her teaching certification in piano in 1966. Through her home-based piano studio, Carol spent more than 55 years sharing her love of music with the community. Three generations of families studied music with Carol allowing grandparents and grandkids to share piano lesson memories. She spent Sundays playing at church at St. Peter's Church.
Carol was a caretaker. She took care of her kids, fed their friends at breaks from school, helped and befriended Father Jack and Father Dan, and eventually helped with the care of her grandkids and great grandkids. In the '90s she established a scholarship fund for young mothers, and she volunteered her time at the Anaconda Food Bank.
Carol Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelle and Raymond Cote; her husband, Matthew Strizich; her daughter, Lori Hess; and her granddaughter, Danielle Hess-Erickson.
