Vera Glover Perkins

Vera Glover Olsen Perkins passed away suddenly on November 12, 2014, at her residence in Anaconda, MT. She was 90 years young. She now joins her husband's, Douglas Olsen and Jack Perkins plus her Mom, brother (Alex Glover) and sisters (Mary Hughes and Sarah Terkla). She leaves behind 2 daughters and son-in-laws, Judy & Ed McLaughlin and Gloria & Mike Blotkamp. Grandchildren: Eric McLaughlin, Marcy McLaughlin Gallo and her husband Bill; Josh and Lyn Blotkamp and their 2 daughters, her great granddaughters Laynee and Adalyn. She was the youngest daughter of Rosella Glover and grew up in Philipsburg, MT. and later moved to Washington where she met her first husband, Douglas Olsen. They were married in Vancouver, Washington, in 1945 and celebrated 40 years of marriage. He passed away in January 1985. She married Jack Perkins of Deer Lodge and they were married for 15 years before his death. Surviving stepchildren are: Randy, John and Dale Perkins and step grandsons, Scott and Josh Perkins. She spent many years going back and forth between MT and AZ where she lived in Apache Wells, Mesa, AZ, enjoying the summers of MT and the winters of AZ. While living in Washington, she worked at the shipyards and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII. After her marriage she moved to Utah and then later moved to Philipsburg while her husband Doug worked at the smelter. Upon moving to Anaconda in 1964, she served many years working at the St. Ann's Hospital as a secretary. Her hobbies included playing pinochle, line dancing, bingo, cribbage, square dancing, and being involved in the activities provided by the Grange. She spent a lot of her time at the Metcalf Senior Center enjoying the many activities. She was also a member of the local Red Hat Society. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
