On Tuesday, August 18th, 2020, Stanley Theodore Cyr, better known as Ted, passed away at the age of 77.
Ted was born on May 7th, 1943 to Edward and Anne (Kovacich) Cyr in Anaconda, MT. Ted grew up fixing old cars in the family garage with his brothers and friends and soon after graduation started working at various locations as a mechanic. He found a home at the Anaconda Service Station where he learned many aspects of the full-service gas station business. He later moved on to work at Gray Rock Trucking Co. at the Lime Quarry west of Anaconda where he worked as a semi-truck driver hauling lime rock to the smelter. After the smelter closed in 1980 and being laid off, Ted took a chance during a hard time for the town and bought a full-service gas station, G and R Service. He and his wife Bonnie renamed the station Ted's G and R Service and ran a successful business for over 20 years. Ted moved on to work at Discovery Ski Basin where he would plow snow and work on the heavy equipment until his retirement in 2012.
Ted had a lifelong love affair with anything that had a motor. He enjoyed motorbikes, snowmobiles, heavy equipment, cars, trucks and RV's his whole life. He loved to buy vehicles in disrepair, fix them up to sell or trade so he could get his next project, always having something to work on in the garage. Ted was always known as a hard worker that could fix anything and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed the local outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding motorbikes and snowmobiles and always enjoyed going to get firewood.
Ted was preceded in death by his father Edward and mother Anne, brothers Blackie, John, Jerry, Edward, and Paul.
He is survived by his wife Linda, sons Chris, Bryan and Jory, grandchildren Stevie, Char-Lee, Megan, Tess and Jake, stepchildren Kraig, Todd and Spring, brother T.J. sisters Kathy and June and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of a funeral service a celebration of life will be held next summer with a date TBA later.
