Sidney John Beausoleil, 90
Sidney J. Beausoleil, age 90, passed away peacefully March 20, 2014 after a short illness. Sid was born Nov. 3, 1923 to Sinai and Alice Neilsen Beausoleil and was one of 10 children. Sid married Lois Ruth Beal on Sept. 12, 1948 and they had six children during their 66 years of marriage.
Sid is survived by his wife, Lois, children and their spouses: Colleen (Wes) Vermillion, Kathy (Danny) Withem, Sidney (Geoff) Grant, Lori (Scott) Eichenberger and James (Marianne) Beausoleil. Sid's grandchildren are: Kaylan, Kade, Ethan, Cody and Carson.
Sid enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1942 and served aboard an icebreaker and on troopships in the Pacific during World War II. After that time, Sid spent years working for the ACM Company as an electrician and for the telephone company in Anaconda. Sid then spent years working in Ketchikan, Alaska for the US Army in their telecommunications division. After spending the last part of his career working for the Naval Electronics Systems Command Center in Vallejo, Calif., Sid retired and moved back to Anaconda with his wife, Lois, where he spent the rest of his years.
When Sid wasn't working, his true passions were flying the various aircraft, which he owned, and woodworking, making everything from colorfully decorated doorstops to fine furniture, some of which is on display locally at Beyond Necessity.
Sid remained active in the American Legion Post 21, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1876 and Disabled Americans Veterans Post 13, carrying out extraordinary community benefit efforts in the process. In the early 2000s, Sid worked to install solar powered lighted flagpoles at the Veteran's cemetery, an indication of his commitment to those who have served our country.
While working as a volunteer overseeing court ordered community service efforts, Sid took personal interest in the young adults he worked with, helping them realize their potential for success in life, often hearing from them years later that his influence had helped them steer their futures in a positive direction.
Those who had the honor of knowing Sid will remember him for the pride, honesty and integrity that were the seeds of his character. His love for family was unfailing from the beginning up until the end and for all of these things, he will be forever missed.
