In Loving Memory of Sir Knight Shane James Charles

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shane James Charles, 53 years old, a devoted husband, faithful father, proud veteran, and respected member of his community in Anaconda and Stevensville, Montana where he split his time.

Shane served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, he deployed to two campaigns in Saudi Arabia Operation Desert Shield/Storm Vigilant Warrior and Enduring Freedom. His years in uniform reflected the values he carried throughout his life: integrity, duty, and service to others. He was an American Legion Rider in Post 91 Corvallis, Montana and active in fundraising for Post 21 Anaconda, Montana through his family owned business Carmel’s Sports Bar and Grill. He was proud of his construction company Kowboy Construction and collaborated with his brothers at heart, Ryan Carlyle and Jerry Collins.

Beyond his military accomplishments, he loved the cowboy life and the rodeo circuit took him to destinations across the country creating lifelong friendships. Shane’s rodeo family was everywhere he went, and his passion as a bull rider and bullfighter brought him nose to nose with beasts while he performed cowboy protection. He loved his Broncos and his Labrador Retrievers, and fishing or bird hunting with one of his dogs.

Shane was a dedicated member of Phoenicia 58, Free & Accepted Masons of Arizona, the Masonic fraternity and proudly held affiliation with Phoenix Commandery No. 3, Knights Templar as Sir Knight. His involvement reflected his deep belief in faith, brotherhood, charity, and the pursuit of moral excellence. He formed lasting friendships and touched many lives through his service within the Masonic community.

Above all else, Shane cherished his family and friends. His purpose both in service and everyday life, was simple and profound: to help others, especially those who had less, and to bring a smile to anyone’s face, he lived that purposefully. His legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, laughter and love. He was a loving husband to Tamara Renee Charles for 15 years, whose steadfast support and devotion were the foundation of his home. He leaves behind his beloved wife, who will forever treasure the memories they shared together, and his four daughters, Kassandra Adams, 25, Kallysta Adams, 23, Katalina Adams, 23 and Kaylee Adams, 21 who were the pride and joy of his life and he lovingly would regale anyone who would listen to stories of His Girls. He stepped up to raise four daughters and taught them to tie their shoe laces, ride a bike, spent endless hours in math homework sessions and didn’t miss a sports event, he was their biggest cheerleader and would coach them after every game. He swore by their Barbie Poles when going fishing and would allow the girls to give his beard and hair pony tails and even woke up to painted finger nails, and he welcomed every minute of being a girl dad!

Shane shared an unbreakable bond with his little sister Bunni Rae, who adored her big brother beyond measure. He is also survived by her husband Harris Maceo and his nieces, Soliah and Selisse. Great Aunt Evelyn Martin Denton, and numerous extended family members, friends, brothers in arms, and fellow Masons who will deeply miss his presence, wisdom, and generous spirit.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bubba Charles and Nicky Wock Charles. His brother Roy Charles. His grandparents Elmer and Alice Charles and Nick and Betty Wock.

Those who knew Shane will remember him for his strength of character, his loyalty to family and friends, his sense of honor, and his willingness to help others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the enduring love he shared with those closest to him.

A man too good for just one first name. The last goodbye is the hardest one to say, this is where the Kowboy rides away. May he rest in peace.
