Rose Marie Smith

Rose Marie Smith of Opportunity, MT passed away October 18, 2021. She was born on November 7, 1942, in Anaconda, MT to Paul and Doris Massett. As a child, she attended school in Butte, MT. It was in Butte where she met the love of her life Robert Smith. They were married for almost 59 years when Robert passed away in 2017. For 36 years, she worked as a janitress at Beaver Dam School and the Anaconda School District. Her passions were baking, particularly povitica at Christmas, and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed family outings and gatherings, where a grandchild could always be found in her arms or on her lap. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Carol Miller, Brenda (James) Anderson, Bobby (Shelly) Smith, and Paul (Billie Jo) Smith all of Anaconda; Grandchildren Erik Miller, Jeff Miller, Kelli (Tim) Thennis, Chris (Jessica) Anderson, Tracy (Cody) Swainston, Travis (Sammi) Anderson, Shauna (David) Schmidt, Jackie Smith, Tiffany Smith, Laura Beth (Ray) Curnow, and Matt (Monica) Hansen; Great grandchildren Dylan, Bryer, Jase, Addison, Rylie, Chad, Heidi, Scotty, Memphis, Ally, Bridger, and Grayli. She is survived by her sister Shirley McGivern of Butte and sister-in-law Judy Reilly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, son David, parents, and brothers, Gene, Paul, sisters Mary Ann, Betty, and Carol.

Cremation has taken place. The funeral will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Longfellow Finnegan Funeral home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow the services at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, and a luncheon at the Community Club in Opportunity.
