Anaconda

Robert James “RJ” Curran, age 29, of Anaconda, formerly of Helena, Montana, passed away on August 15, 2026. RJ was born on September 12, 1996, to Steve and Cindy (Titchenal) Curran in Helena, Montana. He was raised in Helena and attended Jim Darcy Elementary, CR Anderson Middle School, and graduated from Capital High School in 2015.

RJ started out playing baseball and soccer as a child, but as he got older, he enjoyed playing football through middle school and even spent time playing center for Henley High School while he lived in Oregon, where he met many of the friends he still has today. He set the record for weightlifting (deadlift) as a freshman in high school. He was the first student council president for Jim Darcy School and the 5th-grade Spelling Bee champion. He was in Boy Scouts and was a part of the DECA Club, where he went on to compete at Nationals in Orlando, FL.

RJ was always ecstatic to watch the Philadelphia Eagles play during the fall, even more so now with his son. RJ started fishing, bird hunting, and big game hunting as soon as he was old enough and was always excited to point out different birds to whoever would listen. He always found time to fit in gaming on his PC or Xbox during his day. RJ adored all of his dogs so much and never missed an opportunity to give out belly scratches.

RJ loved to give back to the community he was a part of and had a strong passion for working with troubled youths. He always took pride in doing random acts of kindness for anyone and everyone. RJ was a faithful, devoted husband, a loving Dada, a caring brother, and an incredible son.

RJ met Noelle Babcock in 2020 while they were both employed at Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena. In 2023, RJ and Noelle moved to Anaconda, where RJ began working as an assistant manager at Murdoch’s. The two were happily married on October 2nd, 2024, and together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. They welcomed their son, Coleson, into their lives on April 22nd, 2025, and shared beautiful memories together as a family of three.

During his time at Murdoch’s, RJ became a familiar and beloved face in the Anaconda community. He was well known for his friendly nature, sense of humor, and, especially, his smile. RJ had a way of making people feel welcome, and making friends and connections came very easily to him. Many in the Anaconda community will remember his warm smile, his quirky dad jokes, and the friendly conversations they shared with him along the way.

RJ took great pride in his work and was continually growing and developing professionally. After his time at Murdoch’s, he had a very challenging but rewarding career working with troubled youths at AWARE. He continued to pursue opportunities to provide for his family and most recently worked as a manufacturing operator with Syensqo.

RJ was a very hard worker and took great pride in providing for his family. He made sure his wife and son were always cared for and worked tirelessly to build a wonderful life for himself and his family. His dedication to his family was evident in everything he did.

After moving to Anaconda, RJ and Noelle began attending the Church of Christ, where they found a wonderful church family and developed meaningful friendships and connections. Their church family became an important part of their lives and a source of love and support.

RJ will be remembered for his heart of gold, his wittiness and snappy comebacks, his strong work ethic, unwavering love for his family, and his absolutely unforgettable smile. The lasting impression he had on every single person who has ever had the pleasure of encountering him is sure to be something treasured in this world. His ability to make others feel welcome and his genuine kindness left a permanent impact on everyone he met. His presence brought warmth and so much joy to those around him, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, near and far, for a very long time to come.

RJ is survived by his wife, Noelle Curran; son, Coleson Curran; parents, Steve and Cindy Curran; siblings, Shannon (Teancum) Martin, Katie (Aaron) Williams, and Ella Curran; grandparents, Robert and Patricia Curran and Lavonne Titchenal; nieces, Myla and Rylee; nephew, Harrison; his church family; coworkers; his beloved dogs; and many friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him for a lifetime to come.
