Richard Allen Pederson, 74 Aug. 5, 1943-Nov. 20, 2017 Richard Allen Pederson, 74, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at the Granite County Medical Center Nursing Home in Phillipsburg, Montana. Rich leaves his wife, Bev; son Rich and wife Cheri of Gold Bar, Washington; son Ken and wife Jane of Everett, Washington; daughter Terry of Everett, Washington; daughter Jennifer Friar and husband Joshua of Butte, Montana; stepdaughter Kim Pavey and husband Doug of Washington state; stepson Billy Barrington and wife Christine of Alaska; stepson Craig Barrington of Alaska; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rich was the seventh son born to Joseph (Joe) and Nettie Pederson in Rugby, North Dakota on Aug. 5, 1943. He was greeted in Paradise by his parents, Joe and Nettie Pederson, and brothers, Ray, Gene, Kenny, Norman, and Dale. Waiting to join him and the rest of the family are his brother, Bud of Reno, Nevada; brother Gary and wife Noreen of Airway Heights, Washington; brother Curt and wife Terry of Philipsburg, Montana; sister Mary Bertz and husband Ken of Townsend, Montana; sister Sue Bertz and husband Larry of Spokane, Washington; and brother Glenn and wife Edie of Winnemucca, Nevada, as well as many nieces and nephews. In 1952 his mom boarded the train with Rich, five older brothers; two younger brothers; and one baby sister and headed to Butte, Montana to join his dad and oldest brother. Rich spent his youth and young adult life in Butte and then moved to Mount Lake Terrace, Washington in the late 1960's. There he worked for Bethlehem Steel from 1969 to 1990. After the closure of Bethlehem Steel, he joined several of his brothers mining in various places in Nevada before moving to Philipsburg, Montana. Rich worked at the lumber mill in Hall, Montana from 1998 to 2007 when he retired. A celebration of Rich's life is being held at the Museum in Philipsburg, Montana on Jan. 6, 2018 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
