Phillip Zamudio

May 2, 1920 — August 26, 2013

Phillip Zamudio was born on May 2, 1920 to Pantaleon and Maria Zamudio in Omaha, NE. He entered the US Navy and he served during WWII. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1945, he married Virginia Castenada in Scottsbluff, NE and then moved out to Anaconda with his family. Phillip worked on the smelter for the Anaconda Company and retired in 1980. He continued to make Anaconda his home. His wife Virginia passed away in 2001. Phillip enjoyed running. He ran the Boston Marathon in 1983 and when he was 82, he climbed Mount Haggin. Phillip died on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda. Survivors include his son and daughters; Tony Zamudio, Des Moine, IA., Lora Maki, Anaconda, Sandy Vauthier, Portland, OR., Nancy "Tootie" Zamudio, Portland, OR., as well as ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia and his son Phil Zamudio Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Anaconda on Friday, August 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will be at New Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by the Anaconda American Legion Post #21 and the Montana Honor Guard.
