Patricia J. Schalk

Patricia Jean Schalk, 80 After a long illness, with her family by her side, Patty died peacefully in her sleep on October 8, 2016. She was born in Butte, Montana on February 4, 1936 to Rose and David Moody. Patty worked many years at Anaconda Community Nursing Home and Galen State Hospital. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with all of her grandkids. She loved to travel and her last cruise to Mexico was spent with her family. She had an extremely strong Faith in God and was actively involved in the Catholic Church. Patty also loved to cook. She and John would spend days before the holidays making poviticia (the recipe passed down through generations). Dough would be spread across tables and pots of filling on the stove. She also made pasties. Her grandson Ryan filmed her making pasties from start to finish. They were always part of children's and grandchildren's wedding buffet. Patricia is survived by her son John and Julie Schalk, grandson Jarred; daughter Theresa and John Barry, grandchildren Nathan, Robert and Lauren and James Watkins (fiancé); daughter Pam and Greg Hansen, grandchildren Lindsey and Dan Rokusek, great grandchildren Alivia and Aiden, grandchildren Ryan and Emily Hansen, great granddaughter Nora; son Bob and Lori Schalk, grandchildren Tyler and Denise McCabe, granddaughter McKenna, granddaughters Kristin and Savanah; daughter Teri and Doug Dronen, granddaughter Abigail; son Mike Schalk, grandchildren Grace and Shane, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Schalk, her mother Rose Albright, her son James, grandson John Charles (Dooge), sister Grace Ann, brother-in-law Matt Schalk, sister-in-law Mitzi Fenimore and brothers David, William and Edward. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Peter's Restoration Fund, 217 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711.
