Norma Inez Parks

Norma "Aunty Shorty" Parks passed away May 17, 2016 in St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Mt surrounded by her loving family. Over the last few years mom courageously battled cancer. During her chemo treatments she always cheered up the staff and other patients. She was born in Anaconda on January 7, 1931 to Albert and Ida (Unti) Menicucci. Her father passed away when she was very young and Ida married Joe Laslovich who raised her and later adopted her and her sister Tina. Norma attended schools in Anaconda and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1948 where she was a member of the AHS Marching Band. On June 5, 1950 she married the love of her life Earl Parks. They had 3 children: Marianne, Diana, and Joe. In 1968 Norma and her family moved to Arizona where Earl was transferred to the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company (ICCCo). After Earl retired they moved back to her hometown of Anaconda. After moving back she worked at several places including her present employer, Grayson Law Firm. Norma enjoyed numerous activities including Bridge, Garden Club, and Grange. She loved cooking, entertaining, and spending time with family and extended family and friends. Camping, fishing, gold panning, digging for sapphires, and playing penny poker with her family were some of her most favorite things to do. She was on the Board of Directors of Anaconda Live, narrator on the Chamber of Commerce Red Tour Bus for many years, and past President of Anaconda Garden Club. She also volunteered for several organizations and events. She would never say "NO" when asked to help. She was also a #1 John Wayne fan. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, daughter Marianne, grandson David French, father Albert Menicucci, parents Joe and Ida Laslovich, sister and brother-in-law Tina and Bill Strelnik, and her loving dog, Peaches. She is survived by her daughter Diana (Don) Prahl, Silver Bay, Minnesota, son, Joe (Debbie) Parks, Tucson, Arizona, son-in-law Randy French, grandchildren Mikel French, William, Robert, and John Prahl, and Matthew and Michaela Parks, and 11 Great grandchildren. She is also survived by nephews Willie and Joe Strelnik, and niece Tina Harris. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and several cousins. Visitation will begin on Friday, May 20th at 5:00 p.m. at Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Norma's life will be at Holy Family Church in Anaconda at 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 21st with interment following at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to Anaconda Garden Club, P.O. Box 46, Anaconda, MT 59711, Community Hospital of Anaconda Foundation Oncology Department, 401 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711 or a charity of your choice. WE LOVE YOU MOM/AUNTY SHORTY...WE MISS YOU ALREADY.
