Noreen (Pat) O’Leary McCumber, age 86, of Greenville, Delaware, formerly of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and Anaconda, Montana, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025. Pat is survived by her loving husband Harvey T. McCumber.
Pat was born to Michael F. and Lucille Johnson O’Leary in 1938. She spent most of her early life in Anaconda, Montana, graduating from Anaconda Senior High School as a member of the class of 1956. After high school, Pat attended Montana State University in Billings, Montana, graduating in 1958.
Following Montana State, Pat became a grade school teacher. Her kindness and compassion touched many children’s lives in Anaconda, Billings and Bozeman, Montana. When Pat moved to Delaware, she became the Director of Preschool at the Newark, Delaware YMCA.
Pat was deeply passionate about taking care of others. She volunteered with many organizations, including Meals on Wheels in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She was the Hospitality Co-Chair for the LPGA McDonald’s Tournament for nearly 17 years, beginning in 1987. As the Hospitality Chair at Stonegates Retirement Village, she ensured her fellow residents would be surrounded by engaging activities and compassion.
Pat loved people. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed. From cheerleader to teacher, preschool director to volunteer, she was always involved. She loved to read, was always learning and willing to share new knowledge with those around her. Pat was welcoming to all she encountered. She was someone special, a great person who shared lots of laughs with family and friends.
Pat and Harvey enjoyed 66 years of marriage, travelling and sharing wonderful trips with friends. There were many fun vacations and family visits to Montana with children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband Harvey, Pat is survived by her daughter Janet Cammarata (Michael) of Kennett Square, PA; son Mark McCumber (Penny) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Laura and Jack Cammarata and Cade McCumber; brother Michael O’Leary of Missoula, MT; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes friends to join them for a prayerful gathering as Pat's ashes will be placed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Anaconda, on Friday, September 5, at 11am. Lunch will follow at Jack's Grille (Old Works Golf Course) at 12 noon.
