Michael F. Donahue, 63, passed away due to natural causes on Saturday morning February 27, 2016, at his home in Opportunity. Mike the son of John and Joan (Nangle) Donahue, the oldest of six children was born on December 22, 1952, at St. Ann's Hospital in Anaconda. Mike attended St. Peters grade school, and graduated from Anaconda Central with the Class of 1971. Mike then joined the Army as a Satellite Communication Specialist, and following his military service returned to his family in Anaconda. Mike worked on the Smelter until its closure in 1980. During these difficult times in the community, Mike landed a job with the United States Post Office, where he worked until his retirement in May of 2008. Throughout his career at the Post Office many of his co-workers became life-long friends beyond retirement. Mike was preceded in death by his father and mother John and Joan Donahue, siblings Patty, Tim, Nancy and Francis, father in law Val "Buzz" Galle and mother in law Betty (Foster) Galle. Mike is survived by his wife Barbara (Galle) of 45 years, daughters Chris (Kurt) Marthaller, Kelli (Mike) Hayes and son Michael (Tessa) Donahue, nephew Cory Donahue, brother Tom Donahue, grandkids Taylor and Ashley Marthaller, Ava, Garret and Leah Donahue, and Kyndal and Brooklyn Hayes, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was a devoted family man, avid outdoorsman and he also loved sharing his enjoyment of fishing, hunting, and camping in the areas around Anaconda. He was a dedicated sports fan of the Green Bay Packers, The Fightin' Irish of Notre Dame, and Boston Celtics. Mike was proud of his Irish heritage and his lineage, often telling stories to his children and grandchildren and keeping the legacy alive. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. There will one hour of visitation prior to the services at the church. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #21 and the Montana Honor Guard at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
