Mary Sue (“Sue”) Ehman passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at the age of 81, in Anaconda, Montana, at her family home, “the Big House” with her daughter by her side, and her brother and many family members in attendance. Born on January 24, 1943, Sue led a life marked by kindness, thoughtfulness, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.
Sue attended St. Paul's Grade School followed by Anaconda Central High School. After graduating in 1961, she began working at St. Anne’s Hospital in the kitchen, where she worked for many years and formed lasting friendships and connections. She saved her money from working at the hospital to take her Dad on a wonderful trip to Ireland.
She married Carl Ehman on October 26, 1973, in Salmon, Idaho and the couple lived in Anaconda, where their daughter Jennifer was born.
Sue was a dedicated homemaker, supporting her daughter Jennifer's endeavors and enjoying her daughter's sporting events. She never missed a single game of Jennifer’s in grade school through high school, and could always be heard cheering loudly from the stands. She was always up for travel and she and Jennifer enjoyed many adventures over the years, including four trips to New York City.
Her role as “Nana” to her grandson Carson was truly her most cherished. She relished her trips to Portland to visit him, watching him play soccer and other sports, and always being a willing participant in any game he chose. When she wasn’t in Portland, she and Carson enjoyed daily video chats for many years.
Sue was a long-time member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Her unending faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and solace. Later in life, she worked at the Metcalf Center to keep herself busy, again forming many great friendships.
Sue is survived by her daughter Jennifer Price, son-in-law Chad Price and grandson, Carson Price of Beaverton, Oregon; her brothers, Bill McDonald of Anaconda and "Tiny" Lewis McDonald and her sister-in-law Judy McDonald of Mt. Olive, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Carl Jess of Anaconda; and numerous nieces and nephews, including her niece Catherine Wickham, who lovingly cared for her the last several years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Ehman, her parents Francis and Mary Catherine (Russell) McDonald, and her sister Mary Kay Jess, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
