Mariann Swanson Rouse

June 19, 1946 — October 27, 2014

"When my time comes, I will go." And as she lived, she left us fast, and speechless. Mariann Swanson Rouse was welcomed into this world by her loving parents Harold and Mary Beatty Swanson on June 19, 1946. Her life was lived full of wonder and curiosity. She kept the nuns at St. Peter's Grade School on their toes, and the class of Anaconda Central high School 1964 will remember their vibrant, energetic classmate. That energy was shared at Carroll College for one year. Love called, and she and Tom Earhart married. With that marriage, Brad (Laura) Earhart and children Erik and Alek Johnson, Shannon Matosich and children Lauren Bolton, Macy Matosich and Annie Matosich, and Brandi (Rene) Rico were born, and survive her. Her life was a novel. Mariann, or as her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends called her, "Auntie", lived life, and insisted everyone live it with her, be it at home or through her travels abroad. Mariann shared her compassion and kind heart for more than 30 years at Warm Springs State Hospital, only to be interrupted briefly by making sure the customers at Don's Market and Huggy Bear's were served. After retiring from Warm Springs, she opened that big heart of hers to be sure her clients and friends at AWARE knew they had a true friend and confidante. After Mariann's and Tom's marriage ended, Mariann married her soul mate Doug Rouse. Together Mariann and Doug explored life and enjoyed traveling and experiencing the joys of marriage. Together they embraced two families, and their dog Mowgli. Mariann is survived by her dear sister Pam Swanson, her sister-in-law Kathy Swanson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and their families. We would be remiss not to mention Marty LeClaire and Mary Pat Clark, her constants in life. Mariann is preceded in death by her husband Doug, her parents, her brother Butch Swanson, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mariann's life will be celebrated with visitation at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th starting at 5:00 p.m. and the Vigil at 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 31st at St. Peter's Catholic Church with a funeral luncheon to follow at the Holy Family Social Center. Contributions may be made in Mariann's name to the Back Pack Program at Fred Moodry Middle School, 219 E. 3rd St., Anaconda, MT, 59711 or Pintler Pets, P.O. Box 1204, Anaconda, MT 59711.
