Margaret M. Nelson

Margaret M. Nelson, 102, of Anaconda, died peacefully February 08, 2016 at the Copper Ridge Health Care Center in Butte. Margaret was born October 21, 1913 in Anaconda to Michael and Mary (Mezo) Chabala. Her parents came to Anaconda from Czechoslovakia in 1889 and made their home in "Goosetown" on East 5th St. Margaret graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1932. In 1939 she married Walter Nelson. They made their home in Anaconda and raised five children. Margaret worked as a waitress and cook in various businesses in Anaconda. She retired in 1978 from the dietary department at Montana State Hospital. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved music and dancing and making people laugh. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, father and 10 siblings: Frank, Michael, George and Johnny Chabala. Infant Catherine, Mary Young, Sue Martinson, Rose Sanders, Josephine Schorcsh and Betty Pangre. She was also preceded by her husband Walter and children Sharon DeLaughder, Marilyn D'Arcy, Larry Nelson and Jeannie Beck, two grandsons John DeLaughder and Doug D'Arcy, and special family friend Neil Heisey. Margaret is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ray and Gloria Nelson, sons-in-law Don Beck and John DeLaughder, grandchildren Kim D'Arcy, Chip D'Arcy, Danelle DeLaughder, Rick and Tresa DeLaughder, Dana Daugherty, Jason Nelson, Margaret Beck, Brandy and Jim Davis and DW and Melonie Beck, great grandchildren Cole and Jessie DeLaughder, Betsy Sullivan, and Gizelle and Donnie Beck, nieces and nephews Pam and Charlie Killinger, Sandy Sager, Stan Schorsch, Gloria (Nelson) Ohman, and Bob Nelson and families. We will all miss her great sense of humor, positive attitude and helpful advice that she shared with us from her many years of experience. The family would like to thank New Horizons Staff in Anaconda and Copper Ridge Staff in Butte for their excellent care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
