Margaret "Ruth" Gursky

July 17, 1923 — February 18, 2016

Margaret "Ruth" Hofsommer Gursky passed away February 18th, 2016 at the age of 92 while in the loving care of her family in Philipsburg, MT. She was the daughter of William and Lucetta Hofsommer, born on July 17th, 1923 in Elmira, New York. Ruth grew up in Horseheads, NY. She was raised on a dairy farm, which was ran by her parents. This is where she met the love of her life, Mike Gursky, in the 1940's and married February 29th, 1944. There they raised three children, Wayne, Doug and Barb. Ruth worked at a Knitting Mill, Holiday Inn Motel and Huck Finn Motel. She enjoyed raising her family, crocheting, crossword puzzles and The Golden Girls. After her husband's stroke, they moved to Philipsburg, Montana in 1986 where their children were. After their move to Montana, Ruth became employed by Judy Loobey at the Gallery Café. She enjoyed her new life in Montana and found a new love for Jesus Christ. She became a member of the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Philipsburg, which eventually moved to Anaconda, becoming the New Life Pentecostal Church. Ruth is survived by her two sisters and their husbands, Minnie (Kenny) Wiltsie of Grand Junction, CO, Martha (Ed) Faulkner of Horseheads, NY and nephews Albert, Charles, Kelvin, Bobby and nieces Paula and Charlene. Her three children and their families, Wayne (Arnae) Gursky and their children Tammy Kraft, Yvonne Bolton, Chris Gursky and Mindy Gill. Doug (Pat) Gursky and their children Melissa Colman, Wayne Gursky, Chuck Gursky and Doug Gursky, and Barb Hartman and her two daughters Sheila Hartman and Cheryl Hartman. A dear friend Jake Jacobson, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Arthur and Emerson, two sisters Dorothy and Esther, a nephew Ken Wiltsie and a son-in-law Chuck Hartman. Ruth was a great daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even great-great grandmother. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held at the New Life Pentecostal Church, 921 E. Park Ave., Anaconda, on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
