On Sunday, November 30th, 2025, Lucille Coley passed away peacefully at home in Anaconda surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born January 20th, 1933, in Arco, Idaho. She was the first born daughter of William and Emma Rodgers. After Lucille’s mother passed away in 1936, she was raised by her father, and her aunt and uncle, Minnie and Ed Peck. She considered Minnie as a mother.
Lucille grew up in Challis, ID with her sister Margie where they both worked on the family farm, tending to the animals. In 1949, her family moved to Hamilton where she graduated high school in 1952.
Lucille married the love of her life, Al Coley, in 1955. They made their home in Anaconda shortly after and had two daughters, Lucy and Rita. She spent her time raising her kids and acting as Rita’s Girl Scout Leader at Camp Silvercloud outside of Anaconda.
Lucille had many jobs throughout life and enjoyed volunteering. She spent time working at The Anaconda Leader, working as a seamstress for MacIntyre’s clothing store, volunteering for Art in Washoe Park, and working as a psyche tech out at Galen. After retiring in 1999 she dedicated most of her time to raising her grandson, Nathan.
Lucille enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to crochet, knit, read books, complete the daily crossword puzzle, attend live concerts with family, and watch the Lakers play with her grandson.
Lucille was preceded in death by her father, William Rodgers; mother, Emma Rodgers; husband, Albert Coley; sister, Marjorie (Norbert) Schwaderer; and daughter, Lucy Coley.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Rita Sorum (Dan); grandson, Nathan Coley; nephews, Darrell Schwaderer (Brenda) and Delbert Schwaderer; great nephews; and many close friends.
A special thank you to all the medical staff at Anaconda Community Hospital and St. Patrick hospital in Missoula. Lucille was very grateful for all your kindness and help. We would also like to thank her neighbors Kiki Skakles and the Fuller family for always lending a hand to Lucille over the years.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 12th at 1:00 PM at Longfellow Funeral home in Anaconda. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Anaconda Saddle Club following the service.
Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home and Crematory have been privileged to care for Lucille and her family.
