Loren Elmo Verlanic

Loren E Verlanic, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Fort Harrison, Montana. Loren was born on May 9, 1947, to Elmo and Evelyn Jurcich Verlanic.

Loren graduated from Anaconda Central high school in May 1965. During his high school years, Loren played football and ran track.

In 1966 Loren enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He was an accomplished cook/chef. Loren had many different employment avenues. Although his favorite was riding horses and working on a ranch. He loved the outdoors.

Loren was married to Jackie Schaffer and they had one child. Jackie brought three children to this marriage. Although this union did not last, he always referred to Jackie as his best friend and love.

Loren is survived by his daughter, Sharity Ludwig and son in law, James, their children, Mason Ludwig, Lainee Frey and husband, Cole, and great grandson, Remington; and his stepchildren, Christie, Holly, and Kevin. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Terry Verlanic; his sister, Marilyn Tracy; and several dear nieces and nephews.

Loren is proceeded in death by his parents and best friend, Jackie.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in the chapel of Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home, 107 Oak St, Anaconda, MT 59711. Military Honors will be held at 3pm at Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison where Loren will be laid to rest.
