Leslie Lavon Barker

Leslie LaVon Barker passed away on Monday, December 01, 2014 in Anaconda at the age of 89. She was born May 6, 1925 in Altamont, Utah to Henry Leslie and Eva (Fenton) Shiner. Leslie grew up in Altamont and married LeRoy Barker on February 26, 1946. Together, they moved to Butte in 1947 and to Opportunity shortly after. LeRoy worked at the smelter and Leslie at Fran's Café. She also worked at Thompson's Bar and then JC Penny, where she later retired. LeRoy and Leslie also ran Westside Grocery for many years. Leslie enjoyed quilting, camping and genealogy. She and LeRoy rode their motorcycles on many trips and became snow birds for their retirement years. She really enjoyed their vacations spent with friends. Leslie was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was the music director for many years. Leslie is survived by her daughter; Sherrie (Tim) Galle of Anaconda, her son; Ronald Barker of Anaconda, her sister; Sharley Ivie of Boise, ID, thirty grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter EvaLee Tarkalson , by her husband LeRoy and by two great grandchildren; Bryce Pisoni and Preston Lee Carpita. Services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Viewing will be held from 10am- 11am and Funeral services at 11:00 am at the Anaconda Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with interment following at New Hill Cemetery.
