Lena Mary Fode, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Community Hospital in Anaconda surrounded by loved ones at the age of 80.
Lena was born on October 9, 1932, in Wilton, North Dakota to Wasyl and Mary (Federak) Haluzak. Lena came from a family of 14 children.
On August 2, 1956, Lena married the love of her life, Earl Alvin Fode, Sr. They were blessed with 16 children, 10 girls and 6 boys. In June 1956, Lena and the children joined Earl in Anaconda from Bismarck.
Lena was mainly a loving and caring mother and housewife. She worked as a bartender for several years at the Midway Bar and as a custodian for the Owl Bar. She was a very loving and wonderful mother and was also like a mother to the neighbor children. She would help anybody that needed help even if she didn't know them and give them the shirt off her back and the whites of her eyes to help them.
Lena loved the great outdoors, going to "Alive After Five" every Friday night, going for rides, playing Bingo, and gambling. Her favorite football teams were the Montana Grizzlies, the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings.
Lena is survived by her loving children; Mary Lou (Dave) Anaconda, Linda (Bob) Clark, Billings; Peggy (Tom) Harvey, Cheryl Fayant, Susan (John) Lamb, Julie (Dennis) Gwin, Janet Fode-Gwin, Alvin (Zelma) Fode, Earl (Margaret) Fode, Jr., Mark (Teresa) Fode, Mike Fode, Kevin Fode and Brent (Dee Dee) Fode all of Anaconda; sisters, Dora Clouse, Stephanie Cox, and brother Mike Haluzak, 32 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and two very special friends, Debbie Mann and Jill Vanisko.
Lena is preceded in death by her parents, twins in her family who died at birth, her husband Earl, 3 daughters; Brenda, Rita, Karen, and Karen's sons, Donny and Tony, two sisters; Ann and Kathern and brother Alex; grandson, Daniel Harvey and great granddaughter Christie Green and 6 step sisters and brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Anaconda. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, rural Butte.
Visitation will begin at the Longfellow-Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. with the Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. There will be one hour of visitation on Friday at the church.
