Larry Cloward

August 14, 1944 — July 17, 2020

Lawrence (Larry) Dean Cloward, 75, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2020. Larry was born in Boise, Idaho on August 18th, 1944. His father Louis died when he was 6 years old and Larry was raised by his grandmother Jessie. He married the love of his life Marilyn Berntsen in 1962. They had two children Larry Dean and Jodi whom they raised together until Marilyn was taken away unexpectantly way too early. In 1970 Larry married and later divorced Patricia Hemphill after helping to raise her 3 children. In 1980 he married Janice Heimark and helped to raise her 2 children. Larry was always a hard worker and a wonderful provider to his most precious asset, his family. At age 18 he worked as a miner where he spent the majority of his working career until he retired. In many of those mining jobs he frequently held the top spot for the most production each week, something he was always quite proud of and worked hard to achieve. Larry shared his love of camping, hunting, and fishing with his family where many memories were made. One of his most treasured excursions was the salmon fishing trips off the Oregon coast with his close friend Danny. Larry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his son Larry Dean Cloward of Livingston, MT, Brett Hemphill of Philipsburg, MT, and Jason Heimark of Denver, CO, daughters Jodi Butler of Philipsburg, MT, Denise Buxbaum of Duluth, MN, Melissa Harada of Cheyenne, WY, Shannon Heimark of Philipsburg, MT, 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Larry will be missed by many who knew and loved him. Private family services will be held and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
