Katherine Marie Hart

July 25, 1942 — December 16, 2025

Anaconda

Kathy died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. She was born to Tiny and Sally (McMahon) Longfellow on July 25, 1942, in Anaconda, MT. She attended grade school and high school in Anaconda.

After meeting Don Hart on New Year’s Eve, 1959, they eloped to Philipsburg in May 1960. Together they had 4 children. Sandy, Kevin, Donna, and Mike. Kathy was a definitely a city girl turned country. Kathy took much pride in making her career with her father (Tiny) at their family business, Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home.

Kathy loved and enjoyed spending time with her children (and most of the neighborhood children) while taking the kids to state basketball tournaments, along with a few of their friends, all packed in the family station wagon. Kathy also had a great love of animals and made sure that dogs, cats, horses, chickens, bum lambs, pigs, along with a milk cow and several other animals were part of the family. Camping was also a big part of the Hart family life and Kathy made sure that fun was had by all, children and grandchildren. Kathy was a great cook, she was always baking cinnamon rolls, sweetie pies, and cooked wonderful family holiday dinners. Kathy also enjoyed quilting where she made beautiful quilts for each of the children.

Kathy welcomed a whole new adventure when grandchildren came along. Kathy set up preschool at her house, and the grandchildren had a blast learning at Grandma’s house and later that learning was in the form of piano lessons. All the grandchildren were in good hands at Grandma’s house and later that included her first great grandchild.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Les) Frank, Donna (Dale) Miller; son, Mike (Laura) Hart; grandsons, Matthew (Ashley) Frank, Nick (Nicki) Miller, Peter (Shawna) Hart; granddaughters, Katie (Jake) Magnus, and Nicole (Matt) Bellon; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Frank, Dylan (Lily) Smith, Scott Frank, Sophie Magnus, Piper Magnus, Everly Hart, Forrest Hart, Hailo Hart, Selika McGlynn, Payton McGlynn, Kaydon Strutzel, Mayson Strutzel and Abby Bellon. Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Don Hart; her parents Sally and Tiny Longfellow; parents-in-law, Pete and Margie Hart, and grandson, Jonathan Frank.
