It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julienne Helen “Julie” Palakovich, who left us peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 66. Julie was born on March 31, 1958, in Anaconda, Montana, to John and Janice (Higgins) Palakovich.
Julie’s life journey began in her hometown of Anaconda, where she graduated from Anaconda High School, Class of 1976. Her academic pursuits led her to the University of Montana and later Montana Tech, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing in 1981 and in 1987 she earned a master's degree in Communications from the University of Oregon.
Julie’s professional career took her to Olympia, Washington, where she worked for the Washington State Department of Energy. While there, she managed a variety of projects that included helping families improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Her work had a lasting impact on the community, and her commitment to helping others was a hallmark of her career, and her life.
In 2021, Julie returned to Anaconda, to be closer to family and embrace the tranquility of her hometown. Julie was deeply connected to her family, friends, and community, and her kindness, intellect, and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Julie’s love for the mountains and wide-open spaces of Montana remained steadfast throughout her life. She found peace in nature, whether kayaking on the Puget Sound in Washington, hiking and skiing in the mountains of Montana, or simply gazing at the natural beauty of the world.
Julie is survived by her brother, Jim and sister-in-law, Sandy, and their daughters, Sarah (Thomas) and Ellie. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Janice Palakovich.
A memorial service to celebrate Julie’s life will be held on April 12 at 10:30 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Anaconda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Julie's memory to Alzheimer’s Disease research, or a Hospice of your choice.
Julie’s legacy of curiosity, compassion, and commitment to making the world a better place will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Rest in peace, Julie. Your journey has ended and your time with us was cut short far too soon, but your influence and spirit will live on in all of us.
