May 13, 2020, heaven gained an angel, Judy Lee Peters who received her wings. Judy was born on December 14th to Edwin and Gladys Gessele. She was the eldest of 3 siblings. Judy discovered her love for children very early in life. She often helped take care of her brother Eddy and sister Rhonda.
Judy found the love of her life, Don Peters, at the Opportunity Community Club. Shortly after Don left for the Marine Corps where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Judy waited 4 long years for her soul mate to return knowing he was truly the only one for her. After his return, Don and Judy were married on June 9, 1962.
Together they raised 6 children, Donald, Kevin, Steven, Tammy, Tasha, and Jasmine. However, Judy was a "mom" to hundreds of children. Don and Judy opened their home to many foster children for 20 plus years. No person in need was ever turned away from the Peters' household. Mom touched the lives of many through her special gift of love. She truly had a heart of gold. Mom had spontaneous wit that made you smile and wisdom that truly made you think.
Judy worked for many years as a Childcare Provider at her daughter Tammy's Child Care. She had an amazing gift that many were drawn to her. Children and Day Care families still refer to her affectionately as "Grandma Daycare". Anyone who knew Judy knew she always had a baby in each arm and often one on each knee. She was truly a Guardian Angel.
Judy looked forward to Thursday afternoons at Hobby Lobby with her sister and lifelong best friend Rhonda. Rhonda meant the world to Judy. Many memories were made on those trips. Scrapbooking was one of Judy's favorite hobbies. She made many books to leave for her family. She would count down the days until the scrapbooking retreat with her "girls" and would always have a surprise or two up her sleeve for us.
Judy's true love in life was her family. There was no greater gift to her. While she would always say how blessed she was she never truly knew that it was everyone else who was blessed to know and be loved by such an amazing person. Love and compassion radiated off of her like the sun. She truly was "Our Sunshine."
Judy is survived by her Children: Donald (JoAnn) Peters, Kevin (Roseanna) Peters, Steven (Debbie) Peters, Tammy (Kody) Peters-Fischer, Tasha Peters and Jasmine (Chad) Peterson.
