Joyce Ann (Colwell) Colucci

August 22, 1932 — March 6, 2015

Joyce Ann (Colwell) Colucci born August 22, 1932 to Richard and Edna (Carlisle) Colwell in Williston, North Dakota passed away March 6, 2015 following a brief illness. Her family moved to Montana from North Dakota, when Joyce was young. She graduated from Anaconda Senior High in 1950. Having lived in Opportunity for over 60 years, she was a stay at home mom until her girls were in grade school. She worked for numerous companies between 1968 and her retirement in 1991, as a bookkeeper. Many summer days she spent countless hours working in her yard; taking great pride, making sure there was not a blade of grass uncut, a bush unpruned and that flowers were planted in her numerous rock gardens. She loved her bird houses and horse shoe flowers displayed in her yard, always with a fresh coat of paint. When not gardening she was very creative, sewing valences and doilies to be changed with the seasons. Making jewelry also filled many of her evenings. A watch, necklace and beaded earrings to go with every outfit. Everything coordinated. There were few, that she didn't know and would stop to chat with, when out and about. She loved attending concerts in Anaconda, Art in the Park and any other social event held. Joyce is survived by her daughters Rose Marie Cheney (Mike) of WY, Jean Ann Morris (Joe) of AZ, Debbie Chandler (Robert) of WY, grandchildren, Jacob and Drew (Eleanor) Cheney, Matthew and Kelly(Jill) Morris, Kendyl Chandler, great granddaughter, Justice Brothers. Her three brothers, Charles Colwell of MT, Duane Colwell (Shirley) of MT, Clifford Colwell (Carole) of MT, sister-in-law, Patsy (Don) Detonancour, brother-in-law Jim (Lynn) Pollock, sister-in-law Trudy Sturm, plus many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her spouse Eugene H. Colucci, her father Richard Colwell, her mother Edna (Carlisle) Colwell, her brother Robert Colwell. Regardless of how old you are, what condition you are in, or how long you have suffered; it is never easy accepting death. We can, however, find comfort knowing Joyce is living pain free in a greater place. Many friends and family called and sent cards while she was receiving care in Utah. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you. Joyce's family appreciates everyone who has shared their stories, said a prayer, laughed with us, cried with us, spoke a comforting word when it was needed most, or provided a hug and said nothing. A celebration of Joyce's life and viewing Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 14 from 11-11:45 a.m. Funeral services Saturday, March 14, 2015 at noon.
