Joseph Francis Prosenick, Jr.
Joseph (Joe) Francis Prosenick, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1933, in Phillipsburg, Montana, to Joseph Prosenick and Wilhelmina Presser.
Joe attended Anaconda High School before serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was wounded in combat. For his courage and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart — an honor he carried with humility throughout his life.
Before entering the military, Joe began working as a bellhop at the Marcus Daly Hotel. After his service, he dedicated his career to the Anaconda Company/Atlantic Richfield, where he held many positions until retiring at the age of 55. He was proud of his work ethic and the stability it provided his growing family.
On February 9, 1954, he married the love of his life, Helen Mae (Jones) Prosenick. Together they shared 56 years of devotion, laughter, and partnership while raising eight children: Joseph (An), Pam Kercher (Paul), Doug, Timothy, Kevin (Tina), Wes (Sabrina), Steve, and George (Natalie). Joe was a man defined by his love for family — always happiest when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother, Bob Prosenick; his children; and his grandchildren: Sue Jon (Tony), Elissa, Joey (Fayleen), DJ (Courtney), Jamie, Josh (Kendra), Jen (Travis), John, Amanda (Mike), Heather (Kris), Randy (Mason), Alex (Teal), Sydney (Shay), and Seth. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Dillon, Cole (Lainee), Drew, Cora, Brady (Deegan), Kirsten, Corbin, Rahlin, Danny, Brayden, Owen, Holden, Brody, Paizley, Molly, Griffin, Thomas, Liam, Keegan, Logan, Reece and Cohen and great-great-granddaughter Noa as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen, his son Timothy, parents Joseph and Wilhelmina, brother Roland "Sonny", sisters Ruth, Darlene, and Betty, and daughter-in-law Debbie Prosenick.
A man of great integrity, Joe worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, coin collecting, playing cards, and cheering for his New York Yankees and LA Rams. He had a humble and loyal spirit, a generous heart, and a sharp sense of humor that will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Joseph was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back — a true friend to many.
Joe's life will be celebrated on Friday, August 29th at 10:00am at Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home (107 Oak St. Anaconda, MT). A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Disabled American Veterans (dav.org) or the American Diabetes Association.
Above all, Joe — a stranger to no one — leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and devotion. His presence will forever be missed, but the impact of his life will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
