John Robert "Bob" Matosich passed away peacefully at his Georgetown Lake home surrounded by his family September 16th, 2025 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born April 24th,1947 to Mary and Jiggs Matosich.
In August of 2011 Bob married Sally Ralston who remained by his side to the end.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman spending countless hours fishing and hunting with family and friends. He passed the love of the outdoors onto his children and grandchildren. Bob's handling of the days catch or hunts rewards were second to none. His canned salmon is a dish that friends and family ask for specifically.
Bob was a teacher and coach that touched countless lives. He spent time at each school in the district finishing his teaching career at Anaconda High School. He coached youth sports at all levels while his children participated. Bob also coached high school sports, including football, volleyball, girls basketball, and his personal favorite track and field, where he was named Montana Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Bob also coached the Anaconda A's American Legion baseball team for many years. Washoe Park and Mitchell Stadium are better facilities because of Bob's hard work and ability to get things done with minimal cost and maximum friend and community effort.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Suzanne; parents, Mary and Jiggs; brothers, Bill and Tom; mother and father in law, Bill and Anna Rose Shea; brother, in law Tony Shea.
Bob is survived by his brothers, Jim(Colleen); sister in law, Marianne(Tom), Don(Anita), Dan(Sandy); sister, Mary Ann; his children, Craig, Amy(Aaron) Forsberg, and Mark; grandchildren, Jillian and Sam(Craig), Shea, Johannah and Audrey(Amy and Aaron), Macy and Annie(Mark); great grandchild, Watson Skocilich (Dylan and Johannah); Bob is also survived by Sally's daughter Terry(Nick) and their children India and Zaia.
The family would like to thank the special people at Anaconda Hospice for there help during the last phase of his life. And a special thank you to his cousin and "always on call pharmacist" Vince Colucci.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place Saturday, September 20th from to 2 to 4 pm at the Club Moderne, 801 E Park Ave. Anaconda, MT 59711.
Memorial donations in Bob's name can be made to the Anaconda Hospice, the Suzanne Matosich Art Scholarship, or the newly formed Bob Matosich Track and Field Scholarship.
