John "Jack" F. Vanisko, 85 years beloved husband, father (one of the best) grandfather, good brother, and neighbor, died on January 26, 2022 from complications of diabetes. Jack was born May 3, 1936, to the late John and Hilda (Jette) Vanisko in Anaconda at Saint Ann's Hospital. He lived his entire life in Anaconda.
After graduation from Anaconda Central High School in 1954, he worked for the Anaconda Company as an apprentice Machinist. He joined the Army for two years in 1959 and was stationed at Fort Belfoir, Virginia. Upon his return to Anaconda, he continued to work for the Anaconda Company (Arco) until he retired in 1982. He was a foreman for 8 years during this time. He then worked for the Montana State Prison for 10 years until he retired.
Jack married Sheila Krause from Butte, Montana on June 6, 1964. They celebrated their 57th Anniversary this last year. They have two children who he loved dearly.
Jack was a Fourth Degree Knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and was also a member of the Elks Lodge for many years.
Jack loved to bowl and golf in his younger years and enjoyed regularly taking scenic drives around the local area with Sheila as they loved to look for deer and other wildlife.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Charles and Helen Krause, and brother-in-law Jack Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Jill Vanisko, son Kevin and his wife Rhodalyn and grandchildren Brittany and Kyle, brother and sister-in-law George and Janice Vanisko and sister Pat Thompson, his sister-in-law Susie Krause, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chuck and Lorena Krause and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack always put his family first before himself. He will be greatly missed by his family. We love you. You were the best father and husband.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Anaconda American Legion Post #21 and the Montana Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Anaconda Pintler Hospice, 118 E. 7th St., Ste. 1A, Anaconda, MT 59711
