Jill Larner Garvais

Jill Larner Garvais left us after a battle with cancer and a long battle with MS. She was born July 15, 1945 to Hazel M. and Dorran J. Larner. She battled MS since the age of 21, but she never let it get her down and faced it head on. She always remained active and very, very independent. Jill worked as a beautician and worked in several banks. She loved to sew and make clothes. She would make all kinds of goodies, but she would get more joy out of giving them to others to enjoy instead of eating them herself. Jill was a familiar sight in her electric wheelchair with a tall orange flag and her floppy sun hat as she would travel to town and the store. Jill moved to the Granite County Nursing Home August 2010 where she enjoyed her new close community. She enjoyed all her new friends, going on field trips and picnics. She especially enjoyed the shopping trips, she really liked her jewelry. She was preceded in death by her father Dorran J. Larner, mother Hazel M. Larner (Lawry) and her stepfather Edward Lawry. Jill is survived by her brother, Dorran R. Larner (Debbie), sister Vernel Larner, nephew Dorran J. Larner (Anita), her daughter Desiree Garcia, three grandchildren, Jesse, Randy and Felicia, and a great-grandson Ullian. She is also survived by her dear lifelong friend Marlene Chor, who has been by her side since childhood. Thank you to all the staff of the Granite County Medical Center and Nursing Home for all the love and special care you gave Jill all the years she lived there. You are special people. Please make donations to the Granite County Medical Center and Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at the Nursing Home on Friday, June 21th, at 2:00 p.m.
