Janie passed away on February 18, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 18, 1950 to Frank and Aileen Ferguson, the third of four children. Janie attended elementary school at St. Paul's Catholic School & graduated from Anaconda Central High School in 1968. After high school, she worked as a nurse aide at Warm Springs before becoming a full time mother to her two children, Cristy and Joseph Paddock. Jane was a devoted mother who gave all of her time, energy, and patience to her family until her children were in their high school years.
At this point, she attended a nursing program at Butte Vocational-Technical School in 1992-1993 and earned her nursing certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). As an LPN, Janie worked at Colonial Manor in Deer Lodge, Community Nursing Home of Anaconda, Montana State Hospital, as well as home health nursing until her parents became ill and needed her care. Yet she also used her nursing skills to care for many of her aunts, thus showing just how generous, devoted, and loyal she was to all of her family members.
Janie loved to be outdoors attending picnics, walking through Washoe Park, riding her bike, joyfully observing many flowers, birds, and animals along the way.
Jane happily lived her whole life as a Catholic in Anaconda, beginning at St. Paul's Church and School, and eventually transitioning to Holy Family Church where she taught her children to know, serve, and praise the Lord. Her unassuming example was a model to others on how to lead a simple, humble and abundantly fruitful Christian life. Strongly devoted to Jesus in all daily practices, she attended daily Mass as much as possible, served juice and snacks to children as they attended CCD, and administered communion to people who could not physically attend Mass. She was also intensely involved with the prayer chain, the parish prayer group and Eucharistic adoration. Janie's warmth, kindness and gentleness were infectious and therefore drew many people closer to Christ and cultivated many loving, lasting friendships.
Janie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cristy and Kory Walstad, son, Deacon Joe Paddock, grandchildren, Lilly Walstad, Allie Burch, and Seamus Walstad; siblings and their spouses, Nancy and Jackie Ivankovich, Joe and Colleen Ferguson, Terry and Mary Jean Ferguson; nieces and nephews: Dominic and Erin Ivankovich; Jennifer Anderson; Casey, Sam, and Neil Ferguson; great nieces and great nephews: Isabelle and Delaney Ivankovich, and MacGregor Anderson; aunts: Pat Holland and Marilyn McGinley, and many wonderful, loving cousins.
