James Walter Ellis

September 24, 1947 — October 10, 2014

James Walter Ellis was born in Red Bluff, California on September 24, 1947 to Clarence Buford and Patricia Faye (Barnes) Ellis. James died at home with his loving wife and daughter by his side on October 10, 2014, in Philipsburg, Montana. James served in the U.S. Air Force for four years including time spent in Germany. Upon returning home, he rode bulls professionally for a number of years. Riding bulls was one of the highlights of his life. He enjoyed ranching and owned his own trucks for several years. He loved hunting and being out in the mountains, as well as riding horses and the cowboy way of life. He also enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Diana Kay Ellis of Philipsburg, Montana, a daughter Sharon Lynn Knudson of Arizona, sons; Tim Louis Acord of Iowa and Jim Ellis Jr. of Washington, as well as dear friend Silas Roark. He is also survived by two sisters; Diane McCarley of Bonanza, OR and Cindy Hynes of Portland, OR, and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions made to the Philipsburg Community Church where Jim attended would be greatly appreciated. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 17th at 11:00 am at the Philipsburg Community Church.
