Helen "Regina" Connor

Regina Connor died peacefully at her home on August 17, 2017 at the age of 98. She was born on September 2, 1918 in Anaconda, MT. Having grown up on a ranch near Lost Creek, she had a love for all animals but especially her horses and her Sheltie dogs. She was an avid gardener and she loved to read. She graduated from St. Peter's Central High School in Anaconda in 1937. She graduated from St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS in 1941 earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and minors in French and English. She started her career working at the Anaconda Courthouse as the Deputy County Treasurer. She was appointed the Anaconda City Clerk in 1943 by then Mayor Patty O'Brien. She held that job for most of her career serving under 11 different mayors. Following the consolidation of the city and county governments in 1977, she was named Clerk and Recorder for Deer Lodge County in 1978 and continued in that role until she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Connor, Sr. and Elizabeth Hand Connor and her three siblings Bernard Connor, Alice (Connor) Dowdall, John Connor, Jr. and in-laws Joseph T. Dowdall and Frances (Cowan) Connor. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Connor and her 12 nieces and nephews and their spouses; Brian Dowdall and Alison Spiesman of Baltimore, MD, John and Debbie Dowdall of Tucson, AZ, Eileen and Cory Juntunen of Anaconda, MT, Kathleen Nixon of Portland, OR, Laurie Jo and Bruce Bruan of Mountain House, CA, Joseph Dowdall of Anoka, MN, Jack Connor of Salem, OR, Father Jim Connor of Hamilton, MT, Becky Connor of Anaconda, MT, Bernard and Robin Connor of Butte, MT, Betty and George Arrigotti of Aloha, OR, and Stephen Connor of San Diego, CA. She also had 20 grand-nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 30th at 10:30 a.m. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. A lunch will be served at the Holy Family Catholic Church following the service. Private burial services at Mt. Olivet for the family will follow the luncheon. Memorials may be sent to the Anaconda Catholic Community Luncheon Committee, 217 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Anaconda, MT 59711.
