On Nov. 28, 20220 Gordon Owsley, husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was born May 31, 1931 to Ben and Frances Owsley. His brother was Fred and his sister Loretta. He met a sweet girl, Lois Pilkington whom he married in 1950 when she was just 16 and too young to know what she was getting herself into. To this union two daughters were born, Elaine (Raymon) and Cynthia (Jerry). Mom was Dad’s life partner and on Sept. 30 they celebrated their 70th anniversary. Through it all, mom was always there for dad, ALWAYS!
Dad worked various mining related jobs in the Philipsburg area but when the jobs petered out the family moved to Butte in 1969 where he worked for the Anaconda Mining Co. until the company closed their operations down in the mid-1990s. After moving back to Philipsburg our folks built a nice home and a beautiful garage where dad and others spent many a happy hour. Their home became a gathering place where many friends shared coffee and conversation. Dad could be ornery and outspoken, but there have been many, many recipients of my folks’ hospitality and helping hand.
Even as the crushing effects of the disease took a greater toll on Dad, our mom, my sister, Elaine, her husband, Raymon, and their three sons, Eric, Bill (Brenda), Morgan and Emilie continued to care for dad until he had to be admitted to the Granite County Medical Center just two weeks prior to his passing. We thank the staff there for their care of dad and their great kindness to the family.
Dad will be cremated and interred in the family plot at the cemetery in Philipsburg.
