Gertrude "Gert" Hotti

May 13, 1919 — May 6, 2015

Gertrude (Gert) Muller (McGinley) Hotti, lovingly known as "GG" to her "Greats" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at her home in Anaconda surrounded by her loving family. Gert was born on May 13, 1919 in Anaconda at 410 Hickory Street, to early day entrepreneurs Frank and Clara Muller. She had one brother, Frank, and two sisters, Bee and Celia, who all preceded her in death. Gert graduated from Anaconda High School in 1937. She married Francis (Rip) McGinley in 1942 at St. Paul's Church and together they had one child, Susan, who was the love of their lives. Gert and Rip shared a wonderful life together on East 6th Street, in the heart of "McGinleyville." She was a fantastic cook and more often than not, there would be an extra cousin or friend gathered at their dinner table. The family of three enjoyed playing cards, getting lost on country roads, golf, and especially McGinley family picnics. Gert later married Nick Hotti. They enjoyed traveling, dancing at the Elks and spending time at their cabin. They hosted many fun family and friend gatherings at the lake. Gert worked many jobs during her life. She was quite proud of being one of the first ushers at the Washoe Theater. She was a telephone operator, a clerk at Eli's and Osco Drug Store and a pharmacy tech at Warm Springs State Hospital. Gert lived a full life. She made beautiful quilts, golfed and played bridge well into her 80's and 90s. She rode a bike through Central Park when she was 80 and later had quite an adventure exploring the towns of Europe. Gert loved hosting "Happy Hour" at her house. The past few years she read hundreds of books, watched programs on Netflix and played cards with her friend and companion, Norma and with her "Greats". Throughout the years, as grandchildren and then great grandchildren came along, Gert's life became even more full of love as she loved each of them as her very own. Gert is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Jack Haffey, grandchildren: Kelly Ann (Mike) Marker and their children, Maddie and Cory; John (Jennifer) Haffey and their children, Liam and Finn; Dan Haffey and his children, Jack and Noah, and two sisters-in-law, Pat Holland and Marilyn McGinley as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is also survived by Dee Ann (Hotti) Vance and her husband Jess. Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude Hotti will at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8th at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Anaconda. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Anaconda Hearst Free Library 401 Main St, Anaconda, MT 59711. or to Anaconda Pintler Hospice 118 E. 7th St. Suite A, Anaconda, MT 59711.
